Pioneer Broiler Chicks
We're excited to introduce you to the Pioneer Broiler, a fantastic option if you're looking for an alternative to the Red Broiler and/or the traditional Cornish Cross. This breed offers a slower growth rate, typically reaching 5-6 pounds in approximately 9 weeks. The Pioneer Broiler is well-suited for free-range systems and thrives in diverse farming environments. Feather development begins around 4-6 weeks of age. One notable advantage of the Pioneer Broiler is it's excellent color sexing capabilities. Male broilers typically exhibit white feathers, while females display a mix of red, brown, and white feathers. At around 7 weeks of age, you'll observe an increase in muscle mass, contributing to stronger legs, improved joint health, and better gait. Their natural gait, similar to wildfowl, helps reduce stress on their joints. Overall, the Pioneer Broiler is a low-maintenance, slow-growing broiler breed that we highly recommend.
